Modern football has become more and more competitive and to be a successful player you need to have power, strength, speed and acceleration. Physical strength is indeed the prerequisite to develop players' abilities in Football.
Apart from the routine training agenda, the #GarudaSelect coaching team has also specifically prepared a physical strengthening program in the form of a Gym Program that is tailored to the physical needs of each player. This special program is called the Individualized Gym Program, where each player gets a unique portion of training different from other players.
The person who is responsible for monitoring the players’ fitness progress is Jake Fitzsimmon, the physical trainer for Garuda Select program. He has documented the fitness records of all players from day one, so it is pretty easier for him to determine the portion of training for each player.
"Each player will get a specific program that helps them avoid injuries they suffered in the past or increase the advantages they already have. The goal is that they will be ready anytime they are called to play," said Jake.
Individual Gym Program is clearly a new thing for some players. Therefore, Fitzsimmons starts by providing basic exercises while gradually getting heavier as time goes on.
"Gradually we will add more complex exercises with heavier weights or movements with a higher level. The goal is so that physically they can continue to get stronger as the Garuda Select Program progresses this season,"
The first match against Port Vale some time ago is a sufficient proof of how the team really need players that have physical strength. Even though they are considered competitive as a team, but some players still need to be physically improved.
One of them is Ibnul Mubarak, who according to Dennis Wise and Des Walker, still has to increase his muscle mass. Through this special program, Ibnul is trying to meet the physical demand of the coach. "I try to enjoy the training program given by Coach Jake. Even though it is sometimes heavy, I keep trying my best because it aims to increase the strength of my muscles," said Ibnul.
