Hokky hopes that the #GarudaSelect program can continuously provide opportunities for young Indonesian players to develop.
According to the Third Batch of #GarudaSelect attacker, Hokky Caraka, his participation in the #GarudaSelect program for six months in England was an important step for him in realising his dream of having a career in European clubs.
"There are so many things that I received from the #GarudaSelect program. Now I can understand better about the path that I must take to realize my dream of having a career as a professional footballer. It's not only about the right training method, but also about healthy lifestyle, such as good nutrition intake and adequate rest, "said Hokky.
"This program opened my eyes about the real football world. The most influential thing I got during the program is a good way of thinking. To become a footballer is not enough just to practice, practice and practice. But I also must have a strong mentality. I have to be always humble, fully concentrate and push myself harder in order to further develop my abilities. Now, I'm no longer afraid to dream of having a professional football career in Europe, " added Hokky.
For Hokky, his experience in England changed many things. Before leaving for England, he played as a defender. However, thanks to the foresight of Coach Dennis Wise and Des Walker, Hokky was able to develop his potential as a striker and he even became the #GarudaSelect's second top scorer with five goals.
"My game now is definitely a lot different. When I arrived in England, I was still playing as a stopper. Now, I want to continue to improve my skills as a striker,"said Hokky who has been inspired by #GarudaSelect alumnus,
Bagus Kahfi.
Hokky hopes that the #GarudaSelect program can continuously provide opportunities for young Indonesian players to develop. "Hopefully the players selected for the fourth batch of #GarudaSelect can be more motivated after seeing our experiences. To be sure, after being selected, please don't immediately feel great because the real journey has just started. But please be sure that you are the best of the best," Hokky concluded.
